Brushing, hugging and petting the ponies helps with motor, emotional and sensory skills.
Learning to care for the pony they associate the care they provide with feelings and an emotional connection is formed. This bond can help build social and communication skills.
Many Autistic children find verbal communication hard. For non verbal children this therapy may be most beneficial, as physical communication is used in place of verbal. (Brushing, hugging etc)
